We decorate intensely for autumn and go a little extra crazy when it comes to the holiday season.  Why not have summer decorations?  We love having a few beachy accents in our homes, especially to remind us it’s actually summer.  Too often our days are... coffee, work, lunch, home, dinner, and bed.  Its summer, time to relax!  Seashells right from the seashore are the perfect summer decor but finding a starfish on the beach…well if you find one can we have it?!  But here is the perfect Doe DIY to add a starfish to your home décor without even getting your feet sandy.  Create your own starfish from salt dough!

Recipe
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup cold water
Starfish stencil

Preheat your oven to 200° F.  Mix all ingredients.  Make sure the water is COLD.  If you can’t get your faucet water cold enough, put the water in the fridge.  Roll out the dough and use a pencil or toothpick to make the shape of your starfish.  You can use our stencil to make this part a little easier!  Place your starfish on a baking sheet and poke teeny tiny holes in it for a more realistic effect.  Place your starfish in the oven and bake until dried, about 4 hours.  Paint your starfish if you like before displaying!

You can make a bunch of tiny starfish and use them as cupcake toppers or to make a starfish garland!  The possibilities are endless.
