Doe you need a costume!? SouthernDOE Makeup Tutorial

Hooray! We are so excited to present The 2nd Annual Hall-Doe-Ween Giveaway! Join the Southerndoe Community this Halloween as we all dress up as Southerndoe!

When you share your awesome "Southerndoe" costume with us on Instagram using #southerndoe you will earn an entry into the Hall-Doe-Ween GIVEAWAY! It's that easy! You have until October 31st at midnight to enter!

What you’ll need: white eye-shadow  // foundation darker than your skin (or bronzer) // brown eye-shadow // eye liner // mascara

Add white eye-shadow to your eyelids and below your eyes, down your nose and on your forehead making a mask.  You can use a grease paint for this, but we stuck with what we had.

Take the darker foundation and add it below the mask, around the sides, and on the upper part of your forehead. Blend the edges of the white mask with the foundation.  Add extra white shadow if you need to.

Take a wet q-tip and dip it into your white shadow.  Use the q-tip to make little white spots on your cheeks and forehead.

Add some dark bronzer below your cheekbones for a contour.  This will make your face a little more “doe” like.

Line your eyes with a black eyeliner.  You can keep it simple or go a little more dramatic.  We added a little wing and pulled the eyeliner in towards our nose, past our tear duct.

Taking brown eye shadow, run a line down the sides of the white shadowed portion of your nose.

Now for the finishing touches! We used black eye liner on the tip of our nose around the nostrils for a doe nose. Add some nude lips and mascara and you’re ready for Halloween!

We can't wait to see all your Southerndoe costumes!  Good Luck Does!

I am Southerndoe: Elizabeth McGillicuddy

PLANTED: Austin, Texas

Hey fellow Southerndoes! I am 21 years old this March! I am Texas born and raised. I have a huge family that I love spending time with and have a wonderful boyfriend. His name is Kyler and we have almost been together two years now. I am currently in college and I work at a church daycare. I am a teacher to four and five-year-olds and I love it. Once I finish my basics at community college, I plan to transfer to Texas State college for Animal Biology. I have always had a large passion for animals. I am not a hundred percent sure as to what career I would like to pursue just yet, but I am leaning towards becoming a large animal veterinarian or an animal behaviorist. The options are endless! I know that whatever I do, I will enjoy it as long as I am outside and surrounded by animals and wildlife. Essentially, my family, my faith, love, and happiness are the things I value most in my life!

I started riding when I was around ten years old. The first time I ever rode a horse was at an overnight camp in Wimberley, Texas and since then I have loved it and have been naturally drawn to horses. I currently ride and spend my weekends at a family ranch called Flying S Ranch in Luling, Texas. At the ranch, we have a total of 22 loving animals. The animals consist of miniature horses, horses, cats, dogs, baby goats, chicks, and one little heifer that thinks she's a horse. I love being surrounded by wildlife and I am in love with the joy that horseback riding gives me. My boyfriend has a huge love for hunting so I am slowly being introduced into that world as well. Although it might take me a while to warm up to the idea of myself hunting, I am looking forward to the day I get my own bow. One day, I might even hunt from horseback. Every day of riding is a new adventure for me. I am determined to keep learning more and more to make myself a better horsewoman. It has impacted my life in such a positive therapeutic way. I couldn't imagine not having my peaceful trail rides through the woods. I consider the ranch my safe place and I'm so very thankful to share my life with the wonderful animals and people that I do.

I am definitely looking forward to the wonderful weather that spring will bring to Texas. I love being outdoors, so I get really excited when the bluebonnets and wildflowers start to bloom. I cannot wait to spend my spring days in the saddle just soaking up the sun. I love the cool evenings in spring when it's nice enough to sleep in the back of the truck and just look at the stars. My boyfriend Kyler and I also plan on visiting more state parks to go camping, fishing, and hiking at. I'm also super excited for the upcoming beach trip my family is planning to take to Port Aransas. And of course, I am super stoked for Southerndoe's new spring line. I already have a few products I've been eyeing. I can't wait for more sunny days!

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SOUTHERNDOE PRODUCT?I have so many favorite Southerndoe products. It's so hard to choose. I love wearing my camo Southerndoe hat to the ranch, but the two products I live by the most are my "Keep your Soul Clean and your Boots Dirty" tee and my "Embrace Rocky Trails and Messy Hair" long sleeve. I love the Boots Dirty tee because it is an awesome motto. It reminds me to be classy and humble, to be the best Southerndoe I can be, and to just get out and play in the outdoors. I love the Embrace long sleeve t-shirt because it perfectly describes me as the messy cowgirl I am. This t-shirt is me because I hardly ever focus on doing my hair, I love riding, hiking, and going on adventures. I hope to see more cowgirls and horsewomen in Southerndoe because I know there are a lot of us gals out there! To me, the Southerndoe name speaks to me in a way that tells me to forget the material things and just enjoy myself and have fun! I am proud to be a Southerndoe.

Thank you so much Southerndoe for letting me be a part of the wonderful image y'all display. I love the message y'all send to us southern women as a reminder to stay strong and beautiful.

<3 Elizabeth

I am Southerndoe: Olivia Pratt

Moncure, NC

Tell us about yourself
Hey y’all, I’m 27 years young & have been happily married to the love of my life since may 17th 2014. I work full time as an accountant at a CPA firm and just finished up my first term of my Masters of Accountancy program only a million more to go. (At least that’s what it feels like) I am a proud dog mommy to the cutest Siberian husky ever Rhumba! Yes he is very spoiled a pretty much runs the house. We got him when he was about one from the rescue he is now 4 ½!

What makes you a Southerndoe?
I am a complete southern belle with the accent to go with it. That’s actually what my husband loved most about me since he was a Yankee and all! I love me some country music especially Hank Williams Jr. And of course, I am a total daddy’s girl! Oh and I love everything pumpkin and the Christmas season!

We know you’re a Huntress!  What is your favorite thing about Hunting?
I would have to say my favorite thing about hunting I would have to be the crisp autumn mornings spent with good friends. Of course, the meat that came from our hunts was always a great thing as well. Deer jerky is definitely my favorite.

What are some of your other favorite outdoor activities?
Well as you already know I love hunting even though I haven’t been in a few years. I love going horseback riding and mudding. I enjoy tailgating and going to concerts and football games on the weekends! On cool fall and winter nights there is nothing better than sitting around a bonfire with family and friends with a cold beer in your hand. In the winter months I love hitting the slopes and getting my ski on! I also love going to the beach and laying out getting my tan on with a cold one in my hand!

Winter lover or Summer lover? Why?
Hmmmm, that is a tough one, because I love them both! They both have some of my most favorite activities! Summer has my concerts and I love going to those. Also I can go the beach which is my favorite! But winter has my football, skiing, hunting season and bonfires! So I guess going off of that than I am a winter lover!

What's your current favorite Southerndoe product?
Wow there is so many amazing products that y’all have its hard to pick my favorite one. I guess the one that speaks to me is the “she can hold her own” shirt. That pretty much is me to the T. My daddy raised me to be an independent woman and to pretty much hold my own. I feel that other girls out there should be the same and hold their own instead of depending on others for acceptance. Do and be what you want to be and don’t let anyone hold you back from your success.

Anything else you'd like to share with our readers?
To always follow your heart, that’s the most important thing you should ever do. Some people called me and my husband crazy because we got engaged within 6 months of knowing each other. But it was one of those things of when you know you know and we didn’t see any point in waiting. That’s the best decision I ever made, he is my support system and would not want to share this crazy thing called life with anyone else but him! And life is what you make so go out have fun, raise a little cane and enjoy the life you have! Because it’s your life and you’re the only one who can make it great!
