There is nothing like freshly caught seafood.  It just tastes… better.  It tastes a lot better if you did the catching yourself!  Fresh crab cakes.  Yum!  Fresh clams casino.  Double Yum!  But our favorite fresh catch for summer is the classic... Fish Tacos!  Oh yeah, get your avocados out to make some guac and sharpen your knives to cut up some tomatoes for hot salsa.  Today we are sharing our favorite blacked fish taco recipe!  Whether the fish was caught by fishing rod or shopping cart, this recipe can be used with your personal favorite variety of fish.

3 tbsp. smoked paprika
1 tbsp. onion powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. cayenne
1 tsp. dried thyme
1 tsp. oregano
½ tsp. garlic powder

Mix all the seasoning ingredients together.  Rub the freshly mixed seasoning onto both sides of the fish.  Heat a skillet over medium/high heat until it’s hot.  Coat your skillet with coconut oil.  (Butter is traditionally used, but coconut oil is our favorite healthy alternative.)  Add the fish to the skillet and cook 2 minutes per side.  Toss your freshly cooked fillets onto a tortilla and top off with your favorite taco toppings!

We love setting up a taco bar on a summer evening, especially if you have a group of guests.  It’s an easy way to serve up dinner after a day of fishing when you’re fully stocked!  Cook up your filets and make a buffet of your favorite toppings and “Bam!” dinner is served!
