In the Southerndoe Kitchen we turn our favorite recipes into something healthier, all while keeping the taste of the “less healthy” version.  And honey, is one of our Southerndoe secrets for sweetness.  We love picking up some local raw honey at the farmers market, supporting local business while at the same time preventing pollen allergies.  Yep, if you get raw honey harvested in the spring it can help with spring pollen allergies!  Without further ado, Honey Sweetened Lemonade.  The name is even delicious!

1 quart water
¼ cup honey
½ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice

Whisk your freshly squeezed lemon juice with the honey until dissolved.  Add the lemon honey mix to a  pitcher of ice cool water, stir and serve!

As for the question of, How may lemons will I need?  The answer depends on large lemons or small lemons? Are they squishy or hard?  We personally used two and a half large squishy lemons to get our ½ cup of juice.  We recommend buying five or six.  That way you'll have enough for the juice and a few extra for garnish.  We added a few lemon slices to our pitcher, just for looks, and added a lemon wedge garnish to our taster cup.  You’ll certainly be serving this one up  at your next summer get-together.
